Izumi Sato is a lifelong adventurer and dedicated yoga practitioner who delights in sharing joy, peace, and connection. She empowers her students to discover who they truly are—encouraging authentic self-expression, confidence, and ease in simply being themselves. Rooted in the understanding that everything happens for a reason, Izumi views even challenges and hardships as part of the journey shaping who we are meant to become. Through mindful exploration of the body, mind, and heart, she nurtures inner courage and strength, inspiring each person to shine—to embody joy and love. She believes that everyone carries unique gifts to offer the world.
With an M.A. in Dance Education from the University of Hawai‘i and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Kyoto, Japan, Izumi blends academic depth with over 30 years of performing and teaching classical Indian dance. Her extensive study and practice in India continue to shape her approach—integrating dynamic flow, meditative stillness, and cultural richness into her offerings.
Izumi began her yogic journey in 2000 near the sacred waters of Himachal Pradesh, India. Since 2013, she has been teaching yoga, offering flow-based classes that range from gentle to power, weaving in breathwork, storytelling, and meditation. Her teachers and inspirations include Mojdeh Zahra Zahiraleslamzadeh, Jennifer Prugh, Noel Clark, Tias Little, Richard Freeman, Mary Taylor, Jai Uttal, and others to whom she offers deep gratitude.
Her devotion to the Ramayana led her to serve as a choreographer for Mount Madonna’s annual Ramayana production, where she has taught Bharatanatyam since 2018. Beyond the studio, Izumi shares her passion across the U.S.—visiting schools and juvenile centers to educate and inspire children to embrace diversity and connection. She believes that by planting seeds of appreciation for all cultures, we nurture a more compassionate and harmonious world.
Izumi supports Tibetan Children Education Foundation.

Connecting with students, developing curriculums for teaching at university and lesson plans for Shakuntala theater at high school, training students for the public performance as she taught Bharatanatyam at the University of Hawaii, Manoa where she earned a Master degree in dance focused on education with her Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship.

Dedication and focus on studying Bharatanatyam, a classical dance, expression of heart, mind, and body as an offering to the divines let her live in India for 7 years. She is grateful for the bliss and love of her guru, Padma Bhushan Saroja Vaidyanathan, and for the support and scholarship from the Indian government.
She also had a focused interest in researching Ramayana in India and around Asia.

Izumi's heart connects to her home in Shizuoka where she grew up with a nature-loving and liberal family near the foot of Mount Fuji and in Kyoto where she erupted her curiosity for learning about people in various cultures around the world, Cultural Anthropology during her undergraduate study.
