Izumi Sato is a lifelong adventurer and yoga practitioner who delights in sharing happiness and freedom with others. She is committed to empowering her students to discover their potential and grow through their own experiences. By exploring the body, mind, and heart, She helps cultivate the courage and strength to fully embrace and express joy and love.
Her extensive background in classical dance and music in India, combined with her MA in Dance Education from the University of Hawaii and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Kyoto, Japan, makes her deeply practiced in her offerings.
With over 20 years of experience in performing and teaching dance, Izumi specializes in the energetic arts of mudra (hand) gestures, the flow of movement and stillness, and creating a nonjudgmental space for exploring the body-mind-heart connection. Her yogic journey began in 2000 at a conference near the sacred waters of Himachal Pradesh, India. In 2013, she began teaching yoga, offering flow-based classes that range from gentle to power, and creating meditative experiences for everyone. Her respect and gratitude go to her yoga teachers like Mojdeh Zahra Zahiraleslamzadeh, Jennifer Prugh, Noel Clark, Tias Little, Ricahrd Freeman, Mary Taylor, Jai Uttal and more.
Her deep devotion and extensive research into the Ramayana led her to contribute as a choreographer for Mount Madonna’s Ramayana production, where she has been teaching Bharatanatyam since 2018. Izumi brings her passion to various communities across the United States, visiting schools and juvenile detention centers to educate and empower children to embrace and celebrate differences. She believes that by planting seeds of appreciation for all world cultures and people, we can cultivate a harmonious world that celebrates our interconnection.
